Directors: Robert Greenwald
Actors: David Albright | Robert Baer | Milton Bearden | Rand Beers | Bill Christison | David Corn | Philip Coyle | John Dean | Patrick Eddington | Chas Freeman | Graham Fuller | Mel Goodman | John Brady Kiesling | Patrick Lang | David MacMichael
An impressive roster of experts is assembled to provide a generally withering commentary on the quality of evidence and possible motivations of the Neo-conservatives who provided the momentum and muscle behind America's venture into preemptive war. Among them are veteran CIA analysts and operatives, military officers, diplomats, politicians, arms inspectors, and U.S. and British government officials. The fig leaf of the possibility of an honest mistake on the matter of WMDs is stripped away; what is left is the stark and disturbing anatomy of deliberate deceit.

This gives him the official rank of Captain in the British Army. The Colonel (Nigel Green) in charge of the Dirty Dozen is told he must have a British officer accompany his men on a dangerous mission 400 miles behind the German lines and is saddled with the Petroleum executive, who tries to argue his way out by saying that his contract states he is to only work port duties. That argument is lost on the Brigade Commander (Harry Andrews) who simply points out that the executive is wearing a British uniform. The real leader of the Dirty Dozen (Nigel Davenport), a released prisoner himself, doesn't need or want the British officer, who's supposed to be in charge, but he's promised an extra 2,000 British Pounds if he gets him back alive. Disguised as Italians, their trek across Rommel's Africa includes meeting and battling many kinds of enemies and the plot twists at the end will keep your interest.

When Bassianus, Lavinia, and Titus's sons flee in protest, Titus stands against them and slays one of his own. Saturninus marries the honey-tongued Tamora, who vows vengeance against Titus. The ensuing maelstrom serves up tongues, hands, rape, adultery, racism, and Goth-meat pie. There's irony in which two sons survive.

Officially, there's his day job as battalion secretary to the inept but caring Commander Wallace Berman (Ed Harris). On the side, there's everything from selling the locals stolen Mop'N'Glo to cooking heroin for the base's ruthless head of Military Police, Sgt. Saad. When a new top sergeant (Scott Glenn) arrives, with the avowed intention of cleaning the base up, Elwood thinks the new blood is nothing he can't handle, especially after he lays eyes on the top's daughter, rebellious Robyn (Anna Paquin). But that was before he figured in the $5 million in stolen arms that just landed on his lap, Berman's jealous wife, an insane Turkish drug dealer, and, of course, the resulting lust, betrayal, and murder.

Blue Submarine No. 6 (1998)

17 Feb 2010 04:57
Blue Submarine No. 6Genres: Russian | War
Countries: USA
Directors: Mahiro Maeda
Actors:
...the Earth has been gradually destroyed by the human exploitation of the natural resources, therefore the planet is now "rebelling" against the human species. Though there are some differences, the plot is very similar to others (Escaflowne, Last Exile, Nausicaa of the valley of the wind, just to name a few), here the one who takes the responsibility to destroy humans for their sins is a scientist that was working along with those who exploited the planet in the first place. In this case it makes much more sense, and the whole reason for the war seems to be somehow justified.
